    Description

    All UNHCR staff members are responsible for fulfilling their job duties as outlined in their job descriptions within the UNHCR regulatory framework, including the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, and UNHCR Policies. They are also expected to embody UNHCR's core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity. Duties:
    • Transform global education objectives into regional or national strategies in collaboration with HQ to align with UNHCR's education policy.
    • Build partnerships with national education stakeholders in line with GCR objectives.
    • Provide technical guidance on UNHCR education programs and strategies, ensuring alignment with regional priorities.
    • Support senior management in advocating for UNHCR education programs with States and international organizations.
    • Engage in national humanitarian and development sector working groups to enhance refugee education support programming.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to address education access, quality, and data issues.
    • Participate in national-level dialogues on education programs implementation and strategic directions.
    • Coordinate with other sectors to integrate education concerns into their planning processes.
    • Monitor and provide guidance on education program implementation.
    • Assist in monitoring Global Refugee Forum pledges in the Area of Responsibility.
    • Plan and represent UNHCR's education strategy in various consultative forums.
    • Conduct training sessions on refugee education priorities for relevant stakeholders.
    • Facilitate information exchange and best practice sharing within and beyond the Area of Responsibility.
    • Participate in assessment missions during emergencies to minimize disruption to refugee education.
    • Contribute to key internal and external documents and reports with education inputs.
    • Identify and manage risks and opportunities influencing educational objectives in the area of responsibility.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Education & Professional Work Experience
    • Years of Experience / Degree Level
    • For P1/NOA – 1 year relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or no experience with Graduate degree; or no experience with Doctorate degree
    Relevant Job Experience:
    Essential:
    • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration and coordination.
    • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication/presentation skills.
    • Capacity to work independently and experience in educational research, teaching, or administration.
    Functional Skills:
    • PR-Refugee Protection Principles and Framework
    • PR-Community-based Protection – Planning, implementing and analyzing surveys/assessments
    • ED-Education programming design and quality assurance
    • ED-Global EiE standards and implementation
    • ED-Technical support to education programs and proposals
    • TR-Training Design and Material Preparation
    • PR-Convention on the Rights of the Child / International Legal Framework
    • TR-Training – Virtual and face to face
    Language Requirements:
    • For International Professional and Field Service jobs: Knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English.
    • For National Professional jobs: Knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English and local language.
    • For General Service jobs: Knowledge of English and/or UN working language of the duty station if not English.
